Adding Campus Emergency Banner

Campus emergency banners can be added to a site to display alert information when the campus status is anything other than “Normal.” Emergency banners only apply to campus level sites, not IU-wide sites as there is no IU-wide emergency status.

To add the banner, follow the steps below. Campus will automatically be detected by the campus selected in your site’s Settings block.

Step 1:

In the Administration area of your site, locate the Data Definition for the Settings block.

Edit the Data Definition in XML.

Locate the Primary Navigation Dropdown XML.

Step 2:

After the Navigation XML, add the following:

      <radio-item value="Yes"/>
      <radio-item value="No"/>
    </text>

Step 3:

Click Submit to save changes.

Step 4:

Return to the editing side of the WCMS and navigate to /_internal/templates/Page - Standard and edit the template.

Locate the <body> tag. The template should contain the following:

    <include action="show" name="header"/>
    <include action="show" name="search"/>
    <div class="off-canvas-wrappper-inner" data-off-canvas-wrapper="">

The XML will need to be altered to look like the following:

    <include action="show" name="skipnav"/>
    <include action="show" name="emergency"/>
    <div class="off-canvas-wrapper-inner" data-off-canvas-wrapper="">
        <include action="show" name="header"/>
        <include action="show" name="search"/>
        <div class="off-canvas-content" data-off-canvas-content="">

Step 5:

Click Submit to save template changes.

Step 6:

Edit the Settings block to confirm that the Campus Emergency Banner radio buttons are present.

Step 7:

Republish the entire site to include the emergency banner.
