Creating sections on a page

A section is a horizontal container that spans the width of the page. Each section has three columns for placing content chunks. You can have multiple chunks in a section, and multiple sections on a page.

You can customize sections by adding background colors or images. You also can modify the layout of your section with grids, extra spaces, horizontal rules, and more.

These adjustments depend on the types of content you want to highlight, or where you want to draw attention on the page.

You would create a new section if:

You want to change the background color/image
You want to change the layout of a section to use a grid

Best practices

Do indicate new subject matter on the page using different background colors.

**Don't** separate related content using background colors unnecessarily.

Do use a darker or brighter background color to highlight an important section of information.

**Don't** use a darker or brighter background color behind large amounts of text.

Section fields

Background: By default there is no background, but you can choose an image or background color.
- Color: If you choose a color background, it can be crimson, secondary, or light gray. The secondary color is determined by your Settings block’s theme.
- Image: If you decide to use an image, you can select an 1800px x 600px image, or 2700px x 900px image if the parallax option is checked.
- Parallax: If you decide to use an image, you can add a parallax effect to it so that the image is fixed as you scroll.
Grid: By default, chunks are full width, but you can arrange chunks into halves or thirds.
Breakout: Use the breakout option to become the full width of the page.
Bottom style: You can add extra space or a horizontal rule at the end of a section.
CSS Class: Use the CSS Class to add styling to the section.
CSS ID: The CSS ID field is useful for adding section anchors.
Section header and level: You can give the section a title and choose a heading level for the title.

Attached sections

Attached sections are in the _shared-sections folder and can be reused on multiple pages.

Click New.
Section - Attached.
Create the section and submit the page.
Edit the page you want to attach this section.
Create a new section and in the Section Type drop-down select Attached Section.
Select your attached section.
