Feed chunk

Feed chunks may be added to a page to give readers a real-time list of events or news. IU Newsroom or IU Events feeds may be used, or custom feeds may be created.

Creating a feed chunk

Step 1

Expand to Section >> Chunk. In the Type drop-down menu, select Feed.

In Section >> Chunk >> Details, enter the Chunk Header and Header Level.

Choose the Position and Feed Type.

News - IU Newsroom feed

Step 1

For the News - IU Newsroom feed type determine the news URL using the guidelines outlined on https://news.iu.edu/all-tags/rss-feeds.html. Copy the URL.

Step 2

Paste the URL into the ID field.

Step 3

Choose the Maximum Number of Items for the feed. From the Mode drop-down menu, choose how to display the feed.

Step 4

To link to a full listing of events, news, etc., select an Internal Link or enter an External Link. Type text for the Link Label.

Step 5

Submit and Publish.

Note: Feeds will not display inside the WCMS. The page will need to be published in order to view the feed.

Events - IU Calendar feed

Step 1

For the Events - IU Calendar selection, go to http://events.iu.edu/ to find the ID. Choose the event calendar. In the URL, copy the characters after the “=”. This string of characters starting with "GRP" is the ID.

Step 2

Paste into the ID field.

Step 4

To link to a full listing of events, news, etc., use the Link option. Choose either an Internal Link or an External Link. Type text for the Link Label.

Manual feeds

Step 1

For manual feed selections (Profiles, News-Manual, and Events-Manual), choose the Feed Type and select from the Block.

Navigate to the _feeds folder and select the feed type.
